🦠Respiratory infections in chickens and turkeys are attributed to Mycoplasma gallisepticum, with turkeys experiencing more severe symptoms. Similarly, Mycoplasma synoviae often causes subclinical upper respiratory infections in various avian species, accompanied by infectious synovitis marked by exudative tendinitis and synovitis. The primary diagnostic test for both pathogens is real-time PCR. Successful control strategies entail rigorous biosecurity measures and obtaining stock from breeder flocks free from both M. gallisepticum and M. synoviae.

The new InviScreen® Mycoplasma (Mg/Ms) Detection Kit offers a reliable solution for determining the presence of M. gallisepticum and M. synoviae DNA in poultry/avian samples, including tracheal swabs and tissue samples. To extract the DNA, we highly recommend using either the InviSorb® Spin Tissue Mini Kit or the RTP® Pathogen Kit. This groundbreaking development marks a significant advancement in the identification and management of mycoplasma-related issues in flocks.
