The InviScreen® CaMV Detection Kit is designed for real-time PCR detection of plant-derived DNA from food and feed samples. Because of its extensive use in the first generation of GMO, detection of the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter is common in routine testing. In plants naturally infected with viruses or samples contaminated with virus-bearing plant material, positive results for the 35S promoter cannot be implicitly identified as GMOs. In these cases, the samples may be identified as a false positive result for GMO. This kit may be used in combination with InviScreen® GMO Detection kits for the differentiation of food products that contain GMO and non-GMO ingredients naturally infected with the CaMV virus.
