The InviScreen® Hepatitis A Virus Detection Kit provides a real-time RT-PCR method for the qualitative detection of Hepatitis A virus (HAV) in food samples. The method uses the real-time RT-PCR technique, following the ISO/TS 15216 specifications, with a primer set targeted at a conserved region across all HAV genotypes. The method is applicable to test samples of foodstuffs and surface swabs. The kit includes a process control virus and its respective primer and probe sets, according to the ISO standard. The detection of amplified DNA fragments is achieved using different fluorescence channels (FAM, HEX/VIC and Cyanine 5) available in common PCR thermocyclers. Under optimal conditions, the kit provides highly sensitive detection of at least 10 copies of HAV.
